Hi.

Welcome to my sermon archives.

Good Friday

Good Friday

God, we would rather not remember this.

We would rather skip it and see you on Sunday when things are better.

But we are here, because with you, nothing is wasted, not even death.

Grant that we may enter into this night open to the deaths that might bring transformation.

The death of greed.

The death of envy.

The death of power-seeking.

The death of habits of distraction and destruction.

The death of our own ego.

The death of our need to be busy.

our need to please others,

our need to be in control.

The death of whatever keeps us from being who you created us to be.

May our remembering this night, draw us nearer to you.

May we know more clearly the depths of your love,

and the wideness of your mercy, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
